[PROCESS] SUGAR CANE DECAF NATURAL
[ROAST LEVEL] FILTER
[PROFILE] MUCH TASTIER THAN REGULAR DECAF

Coffee roasted a maximum of 14 days ago.

A decaf that doesn’t apologize for being a decaf.

This lot comes from the Planadas area in Tolima, Colombia. Grown at 1,500–2,150 meters above sea level on volcanic, clay-loam soil by around 175 farming families organized into local agricultural associations. Tolima shows up at the Cup of Excellence regularly and for good reason – the region delivers coffees with clear character and a clean profile.

The coffee is decaffeinated using a natural solvent – ethyl acetate derived from sugar cane. The green beans go into a steam chamber, then get saturated with spring water before spending 8 hours in direct contact with the ethyl acetate, which dissolves the caffeine without touching the rest. The result: a coffee that tastes like good coffee. SCA score 87.

Why you’ll love it

Sweet chocolate, red fruits and a light lime acidity – a profile that would pass the blind test as a regular filter without breaking a sweat. If you’re looking for a decaf that doesn’t taste like tea, you just found it. You’re welcome.

We roasted El Indio for filter because it deserves to show what it’s got in the brewer. A good decaf doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. This one especially.
