[ROAST LEVEL] FILTER
[PROFILE] PLUM JAM, STRAWBERRY, GOOSEBERRY

Some coffees surprise you with how much they have to say. Nemba Intenso is exactly that kind of Burundi – rich, fruity and with a depth that makes every sip feel layered and alive. It brings dark fruit and bright berry character while staying clean and very drinkable.
This lot comes from the Nemba washing station in Kayanza, northern Burundi, where 1,074 smallholder farmers deliver their cherries from farms sitting at around 1,700 meters above sea level, near the Kibila forest. What makes this lot different is the process: after pulping, the coffee is fermented for approximately 96 hours with LALCAFÉ INTENSO™ yeast – a strain developed specifically for coffee over four years of research. The extended yeast-inoculated fermentation boosts complexity, acidity and floral character far beyond what a standard washed process delivers, while still keeping the cup clean and structured. After fermentation, parchment is washed, graded by density and dried on raised beds for 10 to 14 days under careful supervision.
Why you’ll love it
If you enjoy washed coffees that are fruity, complex and full of character, this one works really well. It has rich plum jam and strawberry sweetness, a bright gooseberry edge and a long, vibrant finish that makes it great for filter brewing when you want something with real depth.

Nemba Intenso is a good example of how yeast inoculation, done right, can elevate a classic Burundi Red Bourbon without losing what makes it special. The terroir is there, the fermentation just turns up the volume. Roasted in Warsaw with a focus on clarity, fruit expression and everyday drinkability.
Nemba Intenso is a rich, fruity and very distinctive Burundi with a profile that goes well beyond a classic washed.
Plum jam and strawberry bring deep, sweet fruit character, while gooseberry adds a bright, lively edge that keeps everything alive. The cup is clean, layered and full of energy, with a long finish that keeps surprising you.
It's complex and expressive, but still balanced and very drinkable – one of the most interesting Burundis we've had.
Works best as a filter coffee when you want something fruity, complex and rewarding. Use v60 or chemex, grind medium and brew with water around 92-94°C to let the plum and strawberry sweetness open up while keeping the gooseberry brightness clean and defined.
In aeropress, it becomes fuller and more concentrated, with the plum jam coming forward and the body feeling richer and deeper. A great option when you want something more intense and fruit-forward.
As it cools, the layers become more defined and the bright berry notes really start to shine, making the cup increasingly complex and satisfying. Best enjoyed with time – this one has a lot to say.
